Jeff Freeman


Jeff is in his 5th
year as Assistant Professor of Low Brass
at
Prairie View
A&M University.
He is also a DMA student at the
University of Texas
at Austin and is a
freelance trombonist in the Austin
area.
After beginning trombone in the 5th grade, Jeff auditioned
for and attended Arts Magnet, a performing arts high school in
Dallas, TX. He
participated in All-Region band, Orchestra and Jazz Band all 4 years
in high school. He was also involved in the nationally recognized
jazz program at Arts Magnet.
After high school, he began his journey in higher
education. He was lead trombone and member of the TMEA Junior
College All-star Big Band both years during his time
Weatherford College
where he earned an Associate of Arts. While at the
University of Texas
at Arlington, he was a
member of the UTA Trombone Choir, winner of the Emory Remington
Award and performed at ITF in
Las Vegas. Jeff earned a Bachelor
of Arts in Music Performance from the
University of Texas
at Arlington.
Since graduating from UT- Arlington in 1999, Jeff has played
professionally with the State Fair of Texas, Texas Wind Symphony and
big bands throughout the state of Texas.
Most recently, he was at sea playing trombone for Carnival Cruise
Lines on the Ecstasy and Holiday cruise
ships.
In May of 2003, Jeff graduated with a MM degree from the
University of Texas
at Austin. While at UT,
he performed as a member of the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra,
Jazz Orchestra, and the Trombone Choir. The UT Trombone Choir won
the Emory Remington Award and performed at the 2002 ITF in
Denton, TX. Jeff was
also a Teaching Assistant and leader/lead trombone of the Jazz
Trombone ensemble.
He is now happily at home with his wife, Kara,
9 year old
son,
Troy, and 3 year old son, Lukas,
and 1 year old son, Jacob Kyle in Brenham, TX. |
